The people of Altit are very hospitable.

The people of Altit are very hospitable. They are very welcoming to the guests; upon visit they offer dried apricot and almonds, which is a traditional munchies food of Hunza. The people of Hunza treat their women with a lot of respect and kindness. They are given a higher status in Hunza. The small streets and old houses in Altit village hold history within them. The Altit valley has many narrow lanes, which are its trademark. The unique features of this place are its extreme gullies. Many visitors would love to visit this place as it is beautiful and hold many mysteries within itself.

The traditional Jataq (Altit social gathering place)

The Jataq, or the ordinary community space, is situated after that to the Himaltar and the Altit arrangement  is located linking it and the Fort. This may well mirror the royal wish to keep  society actions  at a distance. Together with this by four verandahs attached to traditional houses the Jataq has in olden times been a place of enormous cultural importance. It has provided space for actions, social gatherings, religious and traditional festivals. The verandahs provided sitting room for the king, the upper class or elders of the village. Village people would gather in this space to listen to songs, and watch vivid dance performances. For the 4 traditional clans of Altit; the Hussainukutz, the Shushoroting, the Khunukutz and the Hakalukutz, the Jataq holds a assets of memories, some narrated to the young by the elders, others shared by the community. One such historic event is the King and his family standing on the top balcony of the fort to watch the villagers dance and sing during the Ginani orbarely festival.
