This valley is a major tourist attraction because of its architectural design and strategic location. Altit is known to be the birthplace of the Hunza kingdom. The Altit fort, which also resides in proximity to the valley is the oldest monument standing and it is believed to be 50 to 100 years older than the Baltit Fort.
